BREAKFAST FOR YOUR MIND - SECOND SITTING FOR 2019
Welcome to your second weekly Breakfast For Your Mind of 2019 (and please note this one was posted a day early on Sunday January 16th - but we will be back to our usual Monday morning schedule from next week).
I hope you had a fabulous week and you are feeling really juiced about the New Year ahead!
For many, this was the first week back at work after the Christmas and New Year break, and this can be a challenge if you don't totally love what you do.
When I used to take my darling dog Tyson to the vet, he would hang his head low and drag his feet... in exactly the same way I watched the thousands of commuters board their trains and buses this week after the holidays were over.
Which makes this the perfect time to kick off this second Breakfast For Your Mind of 2019 by discussing my favourite subject... passion.
When I talk to my students, or even just people I meet out and about, I often ask them what they do.
After they answer, I ask them a follow-up question: "And what's your passion?"
It saddens me how few (and I'm talking fewer than 3 per cent here!) give me the same answer to both questions.
I hope with all my heart you are not one of the 97 per cent of people who have given up on designing your perfect life by putting your dreams on a shelf while you toil away making a living at something you don't love to do.
But if you are, maybe this New Year could be the time to make a change. After all, it is only by doing what we love - what we are most passionate about - that we can ever be truly happy and deeply fulfilled.
As my favourite (and definitely the world's happiest) billionaire Richard Branson says: "Always do what you love, and love what you do. Find your passion, because if you love what you do, you will move mountains to make it happen."
So, just before we serve your breakfast, maybe make your Self a cup of tea and dwell on Richard's words for a moment.
In fact, I am going to give you some more words to dwell on while we lay the breakfast table on the East Terrace overlooking the peacock enclosure. They come from a book called Conversations With God that was published way back in 1995 and became a global publishing phenomenon.
These words were channelled through the author, Neale Donald Walsch, when he was destitute and desperate for help - and they came from the Source itself.
This is what “God” said to Neale when he asked him what he was supposed to do with his life:
“You are not to worry about making a living.
True masters are those who have chosen to make a life.
Go ahead. Do whatever you really love. Do nothing else!
You have so little time. How can you think of wasting a moment doing something for a living that you don't like to do?
That is not a living.
That is a dying.”

Now, I'm not saying that you should pack in your job when you go to your work this week. Although if you do, good on you! Generally, it is prudent to plan how you can change what you do so that you start doing what you love as soon as possible without suffering financial hardship.
But I AM saying that today - Sunday - please start thinking about how you can stop making a living and start designing your life... your dream life; the one that the still, small voice in your heart is LONGING for you to live.
That having been said, I can hear our eternally cheerful waiter Valentino ringing his bell to announce that breakfast is served...
FIRST COURSE: NUMEROLOGY REPORT
Today is an 8 day, which means it's the perfect day for reaping all the rewards of the week that has just gone by - because 8 is the number of wealth and abundance. If you have been planning something this week, then today is the day to put that plan into action. And if you have made any investments this week - whether they be financial or energetic - then today is the perfect day to cash in on your investment and enjoy the rewards of your labour.
(Note: To find the energy of a day, simply add together the individual digits of the date, and then add together any double-digit numbers you get until you arrive at a single-digit number between 1 and 9 . Today's date is 13 / 1 / 2019 – so you add together 1 + 3 + 1 + 2 + 0 + 1 + 9 to get 17. Then add 1 + 7 to get 8.)
In numerology, 8 is an extremely powerful number because it signifies abundance in all areas of your life - not just financially, but also romantically, physically, mentally, spiritually and emotionally. (Note that the number 8 is the infinity sign rotated through 90 degrees).
The energy of 8 is "I reap what I sow." So today is the perfect time to look around you and see what you have created in terms of abundant loving energy, material wealth, happiness, security and emotional awareness in your life.
It is also the time to look around and see what negativity you have manifested... because the phrase "I reap what I sow" works both ways. So if there is something that is troubling you today, look back to see where and when you planted the seeds of it... and commit today to making things right.
The Chinese love the number 8, believing it to be "lucky". This is why you will see them festoon their car number plates with as many 8s as they can, and why they will pay well over the asking price for a house that is number 8 or 88 on the street. But in idolising this number for its material properties, they are missing a very important point - namely, that this is the number of divine retribution. So if you step over others to make your money, then the number 8 will rise up and bite you very hard on your bum to make you pay for what you did.
This crucial karmic quality of 8 seems to have escaped the Chinese government, which displaced millions of families without so much as a single yen in compensation so it could tear down their houses to build the grand stadiums and athlete's village we all saw at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.
The Chinese put so much much importance on this number that they started the Beijing Olympic Games Opening Ceremony at 8 minutes past 8 on the 8th day of the 8th month in 2008.
But at what cost to those millions of innocent people?
I hope they are ready for the backlash, because more than any other number, 8 doesn't muck about when it comes to karmic payback time!
So by all means harness the positive qualities of this number of abundance, but please be wary of how you manifest your abundance... because the number 8 is as much about karmic retribution as it is about success and achievement.

SECOND COURSE: A DAY WITHOUT
LAUGHTER IS A DAY WASTED
Did you know children laugh on average 10 times more every day than adults do? So stop being such a serious old fart and try to spend as much time today as you possibly can laughing - and pump those happy little endorphins around your blood stream.
Here's the wonderful Billy Connolly talking to an audience of famous British celebrities on national television on the subject of swearing (so perhaps don't share this with your children! :-). Even if you have seen it before, it's bound to raise a chuckle or two.

WORDS TO INSPIRE YOU
The quality of our thoughts determines the quality of our life - and not just how we feel at any given moment, but what we are capable of achieving. That's why it's essential to direct your mind to think positive thoughts as often as possible, starting right now with one of my favourite "Quotes To Live By"...
"Nothing is impossible. The word itself says 'I'm possible'!"
- Audrey Hepburn

SET YOUR FOCUS FOR THE DAY
There's an old saying: "Whatever we focus on, we feel." So if we focus on all that is wrong with our life, we're going to feel pretty crap! But if we can train our mind to focus on what is good in our life (or COULD be good, if there really is nothing good at the moment) then not only are we going to feel better, but our life will get better as well.
So this fourth course is designed to help you control what you focus on. And the very best way to control what you focus on is to train your brain to ask empowering questions every morning when you first wake up to put you in a great frame of mind for the day.
You see, the human brain works just like a computer. If you ask it a question, it has to answer it. It can't not. So if you ask it a negative question, such as "Why does this always happen to me?", it's going to give you a negative answer along the lines of "Because people are bastards", or "Because the world is cruel", or even worse: "Because you don't deserve any better."
It's time to take control of the questions you ask your Self, starting from the moment you wake up., and the very best way to do this is to write down a list of questions that are guaranteed to make you focus on all that is good in your life (or COULD be good), and put them up on your bathroom mirror so that you see them every morning and literally PROGRAM your brain to look for the positives in your day ahead.
My friend Tony Robbins calls them "Morning Questions", and here is the first one to get you started.
(Note: Please don’t just read the question for a second and then go back to playing Candy Crush or reading the paper. You need to fully associate – for at least 30 seconds – to how it makes you FEEL, and then spend another 30 seconds thinking about how you can use all those wonderfully positive emotions to make today - and every day - a day in which you truly make a difference in someone else’s life, as well as your own.
Ready? Set? OK, here goes…
"What can I do today that I have NEVER done before? And how would that make me FEEL?"

JOKE OF THE WEEK
Please remember that long, drawn-out jokes may be fine at a dinner party when it's late and everyone has had a skinful. But during the daytime - and especially at work - jokes have to be short and sweet.
With that in mind, here's one I heard the other day...
"Two antennas met on a roof, fell in love and got married. The wedding ceremony wasn't much... but the reception was excellent!"

Have a wonderful week!
- Please make sure you process the karmic numerological energy of 8 that governs today.
- Take the time to think of something truly inspirational that you can do this week that you have NEVER done before. It doesn't have to be something big - just something new.
- Try to use the word "fuck" in a fabulous context sometime this week in honour of the great Billy Connolly, who tragically doesn't have long to live due to his advanced Parkinson's disease.
- And above all, if you don't truly love what you do, start - TODAY - making a plan to change your job to something that will make you both deeply happy and passionately fulfilled.
