Welcome to your THIRD weekly Breakfast For Your Mind of 2019!

I hope you had a simply SPLENDID weekend and are feeling absolutely super-duper-trooperly excited - in an Abba reunion concert kind of way -  about the week ahead, which begins right about n...n...n...n...NOW with your Monday morning "Rise and Shine Your Love Light Out Into the World" alarm call!!!!!

(Am I being annoyingly upbeat? I thought so.)

Anyway... on with the show.

Today is a 7 day in numerology, and 7 is the number of knowledge and wisdom - so PAY ATTENTION, all right?!?!  Because I'm about to throw some f****ing PEARLS your way :-)

Now, if you're new to this blog, the idea is that every Monday morning I leap out of bed noisily before dawn to serve you a sumptuous "Breakfast For Your Mind" consisting of five courses of humour, passion and motivation (seasoned with a large pinch of irreverence) to put you in a FANTABULOUS frame of mind as you drag your Self out of bed to begin your working week.

The fact that I have to climb over - and therefore wake up - my darling partner Janene to do so may have something to do with why she is even less fond of Mondays than Bob Geldof. (Sorry, Bob, but somehow I just can't bring my Self to call you "Sir Bob".  Maybe if you got a proper job and a haircut and ironed your clothes once in a while...)

I'm kidding, of course. When you think about it, Bob Geldof is actually the ULTIMATE role model for all of us!

We all watch nightly images on the TV of appalling poverty and deprivation around the world, and 99.99999999 per cent of us eat our dinner, throw away the leftovers... and then go to bed.

But when Bob saw them, sitting in front of his TV at home in October 1984 and watching a report from drought-stricken Ethiopia by the BBC's Michael Buerk - arguably the most harrowing news report ever screened - he decided to actually DO something about it. FIRST COURSE: THE JOY OF GIVING

So in honour of Sir Bob and Michael Buerk, today's First Course is a little more sombre than usual. It's to ask you, right now, to make a commitment to your Self that this week you will do something - no matter how small or large - to help someone who is less well-off or less happy than you.

It could be simply helping someone with their shopping, or across the road; it could be visiting someone you know who is feeling low, and taking along something to cheer them up (your loving smile and presence should be enough); it could be sponsoring a child in a poverty stricken country, or a poor child right here in Australia whose parents can't afford school books or clothes.

OR... you could even form a band, wait for years to have a hit single and then cajole all your celebrity mates into helping raise a staggering $300,000,000 for famine relief.

Yep, that's what Live Aid raised thanks entirely to Sir Bob... 300 MILLION DOLLARS! And he saved countless thousands of lives in the process.

So, in truth... and in my opinion... Sir Robert Frederick Zenon Geldof, KBE, deserves his knighthood more than anyone else in history.

SECOND COURSE: A DAY WITHOUT
LAUGHTER IS A DAY WASTED

Phew! Right, let's lighten things up a bit...

One of the reasons I have put so much humour into all my spiritual and personal growth books and workshops is because I believe passionately that, more than anything else, we are here in this life, and on this planet, to have FUN.

Yes, we are here to evolve and grow... but don't you agree that so much personal growth material these days is so f***ing SERIOUS!!??

Think about it for a second...

When we are feeling challenged, or down, or even in deep despair, the only medicine that is guaranteed to lift us out of our state is not Xanax or Valium... it's laughter.

Unlike meds, which take hours or days to kick in, a good laugh can change our emotional state in an INSTANT.

So... with that in mind, here's another of my favourite comedians, Irishman Dylan Moran, to give you his take on personal growth. He's obviously not serious about tapping into our potential, but jeez he's funny!

THIRD COURSE:
WORDS TO INSPIRE YOU

The quality of our thoughts determines the quality of our life - and not just how we feel at any given moment, but what we are capable of achieving. That's why it's essential to direct your mind to think positive thoughts as often as possible, starting right now with one of my favourite "Quotes To Live By".

This is one of the best quotes I have EVER read. Please read it several times until you really "get" it. And swear to your Self that NEVER again will you give even a MOMENT'S thought to what others might think or say about what you dream of and want to achieve...

FOURTH COURSE:
SET YOUR FOCUS FOR THE DAY

There's an old saying: "Whatever we focus on, we feel." So if we focus on all that is wrong with our life, we're going to feel pretty crap! But if we can train our mind to focus on what is good in our life (or COULD be good, if there really is nothing good at the moment) then not only are we going to feel better, but our life will get better as well.

So this fourth course is designed to help you control what you focus on. And the very best way to control what you focus on is to train your brain to ask empowering questions every morning when you first wake up to put you in a great frame of mind for the day.

It's time to take control of the questions you ask your Self, starting from the moment you wake up. And the very best way to do this is to write down a list of questions that are guaranteed to make you focus on all that is good in your life (or COULD be good), and put them up on your bathroom mirror so that you see them every morning and literally PROGRAM your brain to look for the positives in your day ahead.

My earliest mentor Tony Robbins calls them "Morning Questions", and here is one to add to your list.

(Note: Please don’t just read the question for a second and then go back to playing Candy Crush or reading the paper. You need to fully associate – for at least 30 seconds – to how it makes you FEEL, and then spend another 30 seconds thinking about how you can use all those wonderfully positive emotions to make today - and every day - a day in which you truly make a difference in someone else’s life, as well as your own.

Ready? Set? OK, here goes…

"What am I most EXCITED about doing today? And how does that make me FEEL?"

(If you can't think of anything, imagine you are a child on Christmas Eve... and then ask your Self this same question again.)

FIFTH COURSE:
JOKE OF THE WEEK

Please remember that long, drawn-out jokes may be fine at a dinner party when it's late and everyone has had a skinful. But during the daytime - and especially at work - jokes have to be short and sweet.

With that in mind, here's a fabulous one I saw the other day... and the fact it's told by a chimpanzee makes it even better! (Sorry if you've seen it before... I bet it still raises a smile :-)

- Please try this week to help someone who is not so well-off as you.

- Get excited about doing something you have never done before. Tap into your inner child and remember how you felt the night before Santa came. And then channel that feeling of childlike excitement into making your day - and your week - truly magical.

- Try to find a moment or two today to write down on a piece of paper your BIGGEST dream. Then get crazy and make it even BIGGER. Make it so big even those who love you the most would laugh at you! And then make it BIGGER STILL.

Now you have something worthwhile to aim for!

- Make your goals so big even the Hulk would have a hard time fitting them into his underpants.
- And re-discover your childlike excitement and passion for life.
